Media Markt is Germany's answer to Best Buy, and Europe's largest retailer of consumer electronics! There are stores within easy driving distance of most U.S. military installations in Germany, where you'll find a mecca of electronics from flat screen TVs, Wiis, cell phones, GPS and other auto gadgets, printers, laptops, stereos and everything in between, at reasonable prices (especially once you take the 19% VAT - sales tax - off your final bill). It's a bit of a myth that electronics are more expensive to purchase off-base; you can often find superb deals at Media Markt and it's always worth checking their website or their advertising in local media for the really good offers on highly sought-after items that often vanish off the shelves at the PX.
